Chandigarh: Former Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu met Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu. Sidhu has tweeted pictures of this meeting. This was Sidhu’s first visit to Himachal after the formation of the Congress government. Sidhu met CM Sukhu with great warmth.

Navjot Singh Sidhu wrote in a tweet, “A common man rises to the pinnacle of glory……… sheer dint of commitment, hard work and honesty. Shared my greetings on his grand success.”

Navjot Singh Sidhu and CM Sukhu met at Himachal Sadan. Sukhu also welcomed Sidhu by felicitating him with a shawl and Himachali cap.

Both Himachal Pradesh and Punjab are neighbouring states. The political situation of both the states has an impact on each other’s state.

Apart from this, recently the Himachal Pradesh government has also imposed a cess on the ongoing hydropower projects in the state. Both Punjab and Haryana are angry with Himachal Pradesh over this.

The central government had also instructed Himachal Pradesh and other states not to impose such cesses. In such a situation, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has sought the support of Navjot Singh Sidhu to convince the state of Punjab about this. The two leaders are talking about working together on the common development of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab.
