ED raids Punjab based real estate businessman

India’s Enforcement Directorate (ED) Tuesday conducted raids at multiple locations linked to Royal Estate Group and Chandigarh Royal City Promoters Private Limited in connection with an alleged money laundering case amid ongoing municipal and council elections in Punjab.

The  agency also searched the residence of real estate developer Parveen Kansal in Sector 20, Chandigarh,  who is associated with the firms.

Kansal, a resident of Rampura Phul in Punjab, is considered a close associate of former Punjab minister Sikandar Singh Maluka.

ED teams carried out coordinated searches at around half a dozen premises linked to Parveen Kansal, Neeraj Kansal, Anurag Midha, Daljit Singh, Sumit Bansal and Liaqat Ali in Chandigarh, Mohali and Zirakpur beginning early Tuesday morning.

The ED also searched the company’s headquarters located along the Chandigarh-Delhi national highway. Officials reportedly seized property-related documents, digital devices and records linked to financial transactions during the operation.

The agency are yet to release an official statement on the issue.
