Toronto: Toronto Fire Services was called in to investigate the matter after a man was killed in a fire in a residential building in Scarborough.

Firefighters were called in after a fire broke out at the Toronto Community Housing on Lawrence Avenue East on Kingston Road around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Toronto Fire Chief Matthew Pegg said there were many people living in the building, but one person was pronounced dead on the scene after the incident.

Of the four, two are said to be in critical condition and two others are in a critical but out-of-danger condition.

Paramedics said they took a woman to a hospital in a critical condition, while a man was also rushed to the hospital due to smoke.

The fire broke out on the fifth floor of the building. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
