Chandigarh: After the interview of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi from jail, the main accused in the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, opposition have started to surround the Punjab government. They raised questions on Punjab’s jails and the law and order situation in the state.
Opposition parties have said that AAP has provided a well-planned interview facility to the gangster to divert attention from its collusion.
SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal said, “Lawrence, Warring, Bhagwant – what a deadly nexus has been revealed by a dreaded gangster from Punjab jail !!! Who is safe and who is corrupt and where has Punjab law & order situation deteriorated to?”
He said that State facilitating Sidhu Moosewala murder suspect’s interview to divert the attention from their own complicity shows that Bhagwant Mann has no moral authority to continue as Chief Minister.
Badal questioned who is safe here and who is corrupt. To what extent has the law and order situation in Punjab deteriorated? Bhagwant Mann has no moral right to continue as CM. He has demanded his resignation as the jail minister.
Congress MLA from Bholath Sukhpal Khaira also attacked the AAP government and trying to suppress the issue rather than accepting lapse in the jail security.
Bathinda Central Jail Superintendent N D Negi said Lawrence is in Bathinda jail. He said that there is a jammer installed in the jail premises and there is high security. Lawrence is remanded for questioning by different investigative agencies, he added.
He claimed that the video, which became public of Lawrence, was not from Bathinda or any other jail in Punjab. Describing the video as old, he said that it must have been made by someone before.
