New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated the first phase of the Mahakal Lok Corridor in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. Before inaugurating the Mahakal temple, PM Modi offered prayers and performed aarti.

The corridor of Mahakal has been developed in the first phase at a cost of Rs 316 crore. The over 900-metre-long Mahakal Lok Corridor is spread around the old Rudra Sagar Lake.

Rudra Sagar Lake has been revived as part of a project to redevelop the area around the world famous Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain.

One of the 12 Jyotirlingas of the country is installed in the Mahakaleshwar temple here and a large number of devotees come here from all over the country and abroad.

Two grand entrances – Nandi Dwar and Pinaki Gate – have been built for this corridor. This corridor leads to the entrance of the temple and offers a panoramic view of the route.

108 pillars have been built in the newly built corridor of Mahakal temple, this entire Mahakal temple of 910 meters will rest on these pillars.
