Chandigarh: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Mohali on August 24. The Punjab Police have tightened security and intensified checking of vehicles in view of PM Narendra Modi’s visit to Mohali.

The Prime Minister will inaugurate the Homi Bhabha Cancer Centre and Research Centre at Mullanpur in Mohali on August 24.

“As part of the security arrangements in view of the Prime Minister’s visit on August 24, we are conducting a special drive under which vehicles are being thoroughly checked,” Mohali Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) H S Mann said.

A large number of police personnel have been deployed to check public vehicles and vehicles entering the district from the border. “Vehicles are being checked along the state border and strict vigil is being maintained to keep anti-social elements under control,” he said.

PM Modi’s security breach in Punjab

Earlier on January 5, there was a security lapse of PM Modi in Punjab, after his convoy was stopped on Ferozepur-Moga highway for 15-20 minutes. Later, PM Modi’s convoy returned from there and PM while talking to the media, targeted the then CM Charanjit Singh Channi and said that say thank you to your CM that I returned alive to the airport.
