Ottawa: Canada’s official Opposition leader Pierre Poilievre on Friday met with the President of the United States of America, Joe Biden.

Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre welcomed Joe Biden to Canada on his fist official visit since assuming office.

According to the statement issued by the Conservative leader, Poilievre discussed foreign election interference in Canadian elections, committed to supporting common national defence interests, and to invest in the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) to keep people safe.

During his meeting with the U.S. President, Poilievre also expressed his desire to end softwood lumber tariffs about which Poilievre says they hurt both the Canadian and American economies.

Besides, he also requested Joe Biden to exempt Canada from “Buy America” rules. Poilievre says  these drive up costs and drive down wages.

The Conservative leader also requested to lift Covid-19 vaccine requirements for Canadians visiting the United States.
