Ontario: A 28-year-old police officer who joined the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) a year ago died of gunshot wounds on Tuesday afternoon in Haggersville, Ontario. Two suspects have been detained in this connection.

The shooting took place at the Indian Line and Concession 14 intersection. Const. Grzegorz “Greg” Pierzchala received information about a vehicle falling into a ditch and when he reached there, he got into an altercation with two people in the vehicle, OPP Const. Ed Sanchuck.

He was shot dead by the miscreants and seriously injured.

He was rushed to a hospital where he was declared brought dead. Suspects fled from the spot in a vehicle.

A search was then launched for two suspects, a man and a woman. The police issued an alert to the residents of the area and told them that the maskuks could be armed. Two photographs were also released by the police, and one of them identified as Randall Mckenzie.

The alert was later lifted after the suspects were arrested. The case is being investigated by the police.

Meanwhile, the mayor of Haldimund County, where the shooting took place, Premier Doug Ford and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expressed their condolences over the incident and shared their grief with the family and relatives.
