New Delhi: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has received a threat from a Khalistani supporter. According to information received from the police, CM Sarma has been threatened by sending an audio clip. Understanding the seriousness of the case, the police have registered an FIR and started their investigation.

A case has been registered against the Khalistani organization under the UAPA. The Assam Police has also informed the Central Government about it. Also, CM Sarma’s security has also been reviewed.

Assam Police DGP GP Singh also tweeted about the threat received by the CM. In this tweet, he told that an audio clip has been sent by Gurpatwant Singh Pannu threatening the Chief Minister. He is a designated terrorist under Indian law and the head of an illegal organization called Sikhs for Justice.

He said, “We have registered a case at STF police station in this regard. We are reviewing CM Sarma’s security. The Assam Police is taking this threat to the CM very seriously.”

Significantly, a few days ago, Khalistani supporters had sent a similar audio clip to the Delhi Police.

According to Delhi Police, Khalistani supporters had threatened to hoist the Khalistani flag by removing the Indian flag at Pragati Maidan. After receiving this threat, the police registered a case and started their investigation. An FIR was also lodged on March 23 under sections 153, 153A, and 505 of the IPC at the IGI Airport police station.
