Langley: A man was injured following a shooting at 216 Street and Fraser Highway here on Thursday.

Langley RCMP said officers received reports of shooting before 8:30 am and responded to the incident.

When first responders reached the spot, they found a person suffering from injuries related to the shooting.

Responding officers provided first aid to the victim and BC Emergency Health Services took the victim to hospital.

This location, especially at the time of shooting, is very busy with both foot and vehicle traffic, said Cpl. van Herk.

The RCMP said although the investigation is in its very early stages, this appears to be a targeted incident with no other reported injuries.

At 8:45 am, police were advised of a vehicle fire in the area of 68 Avenue and 229 Street which is believed to be related.

Langley RCMP’s Serious Crime Section has assumed conduct of the investigation.
