Surrey: RCMP is looking for the driver of a Tesla about which officers say the vehicle passed the scene of a fatal collision.

The Mounties are also urging the driver who fled the scene of the collision to come forward.

On July 29, around 12:38 am, the Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a pedestrian hit-and-run collision in the 8200 block of 128 Street. The pedestrian later succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

Moments after the collision took place, a white Tesla drove southbound past the collision scene on 128 Street. There is potential that the Tesla’s dash camera recorded footage of the collision or captured the suspect vehicle/driver that fled the scene. The Tesla driver may be unaware they passed near a fatal collision,” Surrey RCMP said in a press release.

RCMP said officers are continuing their work to identify the suspect vehicle.

“There is a family grieving the loss of their loved one and they deserve answers,” said Surrey RCMP Media Relations Officer Corporal Vanessa Munn.

“Police are urging the driver involved in the collision to contact them; although you can’t change what happened, you can do the right thing and help bring some closure to the family.”
