Ottawa: Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault says the deal reached at U-N climate talks in Dubai is a “monumental” and sets the tone for the next few years as efforts continue to tackle the climate crisis.
But some Canadian environmentalists aren’t impressed delegates from nearly 200 countries only agreed to transition away from fossil fuels.
Liz McDowell from the environmental group Stand-dot-earth warns the deal leaves the door open to transitional fuels like natural gas, and fails to commit wealthy countries to finance the energy transition.
