Toronto: Toronto police have arrested and charged one of their officers after someone broke into his personal car looted his bag containing services arms on Wednesday, police said.

Eugene Lee, 50, was arrested by the Toronto Police Service and criminally charged on charges of careless storage of a firearm and. careless storage of ammunition.

According to the police, on February 15, 2023, an off-duty Lee attended Sherway Gardens at approximately 4:30 p.m. and parked his personal vehicle.

When he returned he discovered that his vehicle had been broken into and his bag containing his service firearm had been stolen from his vehicle.

Detective Constable Lee, who is assigned to the Toronto Drug Squad, has 14 years of service and is suspended with pay as per the Police Services Act after his arrest by the police.

Meanwhile, Lee to be appeared at court on March 6 at the Ontario Court of Justice.
