Toronto: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Doug Ford are in the Peel Region on Monday, where they will make important announcements regarding healthcare.

Trudeau’s office informed that the Prime Minister and Ford will be accompanied by Federal Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos and Federal Minister of Senior Kamal Khaira at the time of the announcement.

The announcement will be made at 1:00 p.m. in Mississauga. Last week, the federal government announced that it had reached an agreement with Ontario on a new health care deal.

Under the agreement, the province will receive $8.4 billion in new funding from the federal government over the next 10 years, along with $774 million at a time.

The deal will come with an initial three-year action plan with set targets and timelines with each jurisdiction. Ford stressed that this amount should continue to be received even after 10 years.
