Toronto: Two people were killed when two vehicles collided head-on after driving on the wrong side on Highway 401, provincial police officers said.
The incident took place at 5:30 a.m. on the eastern lanes of the highway near Bayview Avenue, according to information updated several hours after the accident on the OPP Twitter account.
OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said that the vehicle was being driven by a 35-year-old woman from Mississauga and collided with the vehicle of a 53-year-old man who was carrying the vehicle in the eastern lanes, he said.
Schmidt said both drivers died on the spot. The matter is being investigated, he said.
