Richmond: BC RCMP said two persons have been arrested for reportedly taking away a delivery van at gunpoint on August 13.

According to the RCMP, Richmond RCMP frontline officers responded to 5600 block of Cooney Road shortly after 12:30 pm after two masked suspects reportedly took away a delivery van by pointing a gun at the driver.

The driver managed to escape unhurt and the van was seen heading eastbound on Westminster Highway.

After the incident, police agencies in Metro Vancouver, including Delta Police Department, Surrey RCMP, Metro Vancouver Transit Police, and LMD Integrated Police Dog Services, started searching for the suspects.

With the help of GPS tracking, the van was located on Highway 91 heading toward the Alex Fraser Bridge and followed into Surrey.

“A 29-year old man was arrested in the 7000 block of 149A Street in Surrey. The delivery van was also recovered and towed to Richmond Detachment for processing. A second suspect, a 27-year old man, later turned himself into Surrey RCMP. Both suspects are being held in custody for court,” BC RCMP said in a statement.
