Ontario: One man was killed and two police officers were injured in a day-long standoff in London, Ontario. One person has been arrested in the incident.

The 15-hour standoff began when London police were called to an apartment on 621 Kipps Lane at around 5 a.m. Saturday. Police said that on reaching there they found a person seriously injured. The man was later declared brought dead and identified as Joel Cameron, 41. He was a plumber.

Adrian Neil Campbell, 42, of London, has been charged with the following offences including second degree murder; and Two (2) counts of attempted murder.

In this incident, two London police officers were also injured and they were undergoing treatment at a hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

According to the police, the suspect had locked himself up in the apartment and was also carrying weapons. Two police officers were injured around 7.30 p.m. due to the firing by the man despite the day-long talks, police said.

An hour later, the armed man was taken into custody. The police also found a gun from the spot.

London police in a tweet wrote, “There is an ongoing police investigation in the area of Kipps Lane and Adelaide Street North. Please avoid the area.

A media staging area will be set up at Windermere Road and Adelaide Street North.”
