Mission: A 37-year-old suspect has been charged with second-degree murder in the fatal stabbing of a Mission man in July, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) said on Friday.

In a press release, IHIT said John Powers remains in custody after the death of 42-year-old Jesse Kennedy.

According to the IHIT, the incident happened on July 13, when Mission RCMP officers found Kennedy in an area of the 32500 of Lougheed Highway, suffering from a stab wound.

Kennedy was taken to hospital where he died from his injuries, and police say Powers was identified and arrested quickly after the incident. — Canadian Press
