British Columbia: An organization representing 17 community center associations in Vancouver has written to Premier David Eby asking him to stop the city’s plan to end the park board.
The group says city council’s decision to abolish the elected board is undemocratic and should be left up to citizens.
Vancouver’s council passed a motion in December to eliminate the park board and Mayor Ken Sim has said the current system is broken.
Eby says he expects the changes, requested by the city, to be approved in the next session of the legislature and if people have concerns they should contact their local elected officials.
