Chandigarh: AAP Punjab President Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann welcomed Mohinder Bhagat to the Aam Aadmi Party. MLA Jalandhar west Sheetal Angural and AAP Punjab general secretary Harchand Singh Barsat were also present on the occasion.
Before Mohinder Bhagat, Sushil Kumar Rinku, who was Congress’s candidate during Punjab assembly elections 2022 against AAP’s Sheetal Angural, has joined the AAP and is contesting Jalandhar by-election as the party’s candidate.
BJP’s Jalandhar West in-charge Mohinder Bhagat is the son of Bhagat Chuni Lal who was minister in the SAD-BJP government. Mohinder Bhagat has contested twice from Jalandhar west at BJP’s ticket. He was chairman of the medium industries development board Punjab from 2007 to 2011. He was also BJP’s Punjab vice president for 1998-2001 and 2017-2020.
With Mohinder Bhagat joining the Aam Aadmi Party, the party has gained more strength in Jalandhar. Two opposition parties’ candidates of Punjab assembly elections have now joined AAP. This indicates the party’s one sided win in Jalandhar by-poll.
