Public Health Agency of Canada launched a Vaccine Injury Support Program that will support people in Canada who have experienced a serious and permanent injury after receiving a Health Canada authorized vaccine.

Canada has very high standards for vaccine safety. Health Canada:

  • only authorizes vaccines in Canada after a thorough and independent review of the scientific evidence
  • works with others to monitor vaccines on the market, and can quickly make changes if they identify safety concerns

Only vaccines that are proven to be safe, effective and of high quality are approved for use in Canada. As with all vaccines and any medication, there’s a chance that there will be a serious side effect. These are rare, but they do happen.

On December 10, 2020, the Government of Canada announced that it was creating the Vaccine Injury Support Program.

The Program will provide financial support to you if it is determined that you have experienced a serious and permanent injury after receiving a Health Canada-authorized vaccine, administered in Canada on or after December 8, 2020. Financial support is also available to you if you are the dependent or succession of an individual who has died after vaccination.

Supports provided may include:

  • income replacement
  • payment for injuries
  • death benefits including funeral expenses
  • other eligible costs, such as uncovered medical expenses

After a competitive process and a thorough review, RCGT Consulting was selected to administer the program, which is now accepting claims.
