Chandigarh: There has been a uproar in the Aam Aadmi Party after the Union government passed an ordinance to give greater powers to the Delhi Lieutenant Governor and overruling the Supreme Court’s recent verdict in the favour of Delhi government.

Since morning, there has been a round of accusations and counter-accusations on social media. Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s anger has also flared up over the empowerment of Lieutenant Governor in Delhi.

In his first tweet, the Chief Minister said that if there was a provision in the Indian Constitution to punish the killers of democracy, the entire BJP could have been sentenced to death.

In another tweet in Punjabi, he wrote, “Let the country run be run by 30-31 governors and a prime minister, what is the use of spending crores and billions on voting.”

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann earlier were in loggerheads with Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit. There have been many heated arguments between the two on social media.

Responding to the chief minister’s tweet, former Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) president and BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa said he had rightly written half the line of his tweet that if there was a punishment for killing democracy in the Constitution, the BJP should be replaced by AAP. The entire Aam Aadmi Party could have been sentenced to death for murdering democracy.
