Chandigarh: A case of cheating has been registered against Jasmeen, wife of Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman of Ferozepur district of Punjab. She has been accused of fraudulently taking compensation of over Rs 1.17 crore from the government in Guava Orchard compensation scam.
Vigilance has named Jasmeen and formed teams to arrest her. Many other officials of Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) were booked in this scam.
According to the information received, the fraud took place during the deployment in GMADA. It is being told that at present, a 2-acre garden in the name of Jasmine was shown in Bakarpur and between 2016 and 2020, GMADA in connivance with the officers and employees of the Horticulture and Revenue Department acquired the land on the basis of fake documents and took compensation of crores of rupees.
According to the information, at the time of the process of acquiring the land, Rajesh Dhiman was posted at a high position in GMADA. It is being told that the guava plant is ready quickly, so compensation of crores of rupees was taken fraudulently for 20 years.
According to the FIR, a compensation of Rs 1.17 crore was taken in the name of Rajesh Dhiman’s wife Jasmine. Those who have received fake compensation include CAs, property dealers, GMADA officials, etc. Vigilance has formed 6 teams to arrest the accused. The teams have also started raids to arrest the accused. About 6 accused are also in the custody of vigilance in this case.
