Chandigarh: Former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal have filed for anticipatory bail in the Kotkapura firing case on Tuesday.

After two hours discussion, the court of Additional Sessions Judge Rajiv Kalra, has fixed March 15 as the date of hearing on the bail plea of Badals.

Former CM Badal and his son Sukhbir Badal, former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini, besides five police officers have been summoned to appear before the court on March 23 to present their case in the Kotkapura firing case.

On February 24, 2022, the SIT filed a 7,000-page charge sheet in the Faridkot court in the Kotkapura firing case. The charge sheet was filed in Faridkot court on February 24 by a team led by ADGP L K Yadav and SSP Bathinda Gulneet Singh Khurana.

The charge sheet indicted Parkash Badal, Sukhbir Badal, former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini, then IG Paramraj Umranangal, SSP Moga Charanjit Sharma, SSP Faridkot Sukhmander Mann, DIG Ferozepur Amar Singh Chahal and then SHO City Kotkapura Gurdeep Singh.
