New Delhi: The Italian Neos Airlines is going to start a flight from Amritsar to Canada from April 6. The flight will stop at Milan Airport and go to Toronto’s Pearson Airport.

According to the schedule available by Neos on its website, the airline will operate flights from Amritsar Airport to Toronto and New York once a week from April 6. The flight will depart from Amritsar at 3:15 am every Thursday and reach Milan at 8:20 am the same day.

Passengers will stay for about 4 hours, then the flight will depart from Milan at 12:30 pm and reach Toronto at 3 pm. The flight will then depart from Toronto’s Pearson Airport at 5 p.m. every Thursday and arrive in Milan at 6:50 a.m. on Friday the next day. From there, it will leave at 10 am and reach Amritsar at 9:15 pm on Friday.

This will benefit about 10 lakh people of Punjabi origin in Canada. A large number of People of Punjabi community are settled in Canada and till now used to come from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi Airport.

Due to the Sri Darbar Sahib in Amritsar, there was a long-standing demand of the Sikhs that a flight to Canada be started from Amritsar.

Maninder Sidhu, MP from Brampton East said that the people of Punjab have a lot of dominance in Canada. Thousands of people come to Punjab every day. There was a huge shortage of direct flights to Punjab. It will definitely benefit.
