Victoria: The police said they are concerned for the wellbeing of the mother whose newborn baby was found deceased on Wednesday evening.
According to the Victoria police, officers and BC Emergency Health Services personnel responded to a report of a deceased baby in a parking lot in the 700-block of Bay Street before 10 pm.
Victoria police investigators believe that the baby was recently born, possibly in the area.
“Investigators are concerned for the welfare of the mother who may need medical care and support,” said the police.
The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit has assumed conduct of the investigation.
