Man booked for sacrilege- related incident in Shri Amritsar Sahib
Police have registered a case against the man who was arrested with an alleged sacrilege related incident at Gurdwara Shaheed Baba Gurbakhsh Singh, part of the Sri Harmandir Sahib complex in Amritsar. The accused was produced in the court and remanded to police custody for his questioning.
According to a complaint filed by night-duty supervisor Balwinder Singh, the man was apprehended after allegedly attempting to pick up a kirpan placed in front of the sacred saroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib during an ongoing Akhand Path at the gurdwara.
The incident has drawn strong condemnation from Sikh religious and community leaders, including acting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj and Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami.
