Chandigarh, October 12:

Punjab Food and Civil Supplies Minister Mr. Bharat Bhushan Ashu today informed that payment of Rs.2320 crore has been made for the procurement of paddy so far.

Disclosing this here today, Mr. Ashu informed that a total of 34 lakh metric tonnes of Paddy has been procured from the procurement centres of Punjab till this evening. Out of which 23 lakh metric tonnes has been lifted successfully.

He said that today 402587 metric tonnes of paddy was procured in all the mandis of Punjab, out of which 402179 metric tonnes has procured by the government agencies and 408 metric tonnes by the millers.

Mr. Ashu appreciated the co-operation of the farmers in ensuring compliance with the guidelines issued by the Health Department of the Punjab Government in view of COVID 19. The Cabinet Minister also appealed to the farmers to bring the ripen and dry crop to mandis for smooth and hassle-free procurement.

Mr. Ashu said that Punjab Government was committed to lift every single grain of the farmers produce.
