Chandigarh: The Sangrur police have submitted challans against former minister Vijay Inder Singla in two cases registered in February under sections 188 IPC, 51 Disaster Management Act, 2005 and the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Sangrur has issued summons to Singla for October 17 in both the cases.

On February 9, 2022, Rajinder Kumar, in-charge of the flying squad team, checked Khalifa Gali, Sangrur at around 9.45 pm.

Congress candidate Vijay Inder Singla was holding a political rally/meeting of 70-80 unidentified persons on the road in violation of the model code of conduct. A case in this regard was registered on February 12, 2022, for holding a meeting without permission and for violating COVID-19 norms. Apart from this, on the night of February 12, 2022, from around 10 to 10.30 pm, Congress candidate Vijay Inder Singla held a political rally of 200-250 persons without permission and violating the covid-19 norms.

A case was registered against Singla at police station city. In both the cases, the police have submitted challans in the court and the court has issued summons to Vijay Inder Singla in both the cases for October 17, 2022. District Superintendent of Police Mandeep Singh Sidhu confirmed that challans have been submitted in both the cases.

On the other hand, former minister Vijay Inder Singla said that he came to know about the allegations of violation of Covid rules during the elections only today. He doesn’t know anything about the allegations. He has full faith in the judiciary and will present his case in the court.
