The Jalandhar Police arrested Punjabi Actor Rang Jung Bahadur for allegedly hurting religious sentiments.
During an interview with the actor had reportedly included some “objectionable” remarks about Lord Valmiki, leading to protests in Punjab, including Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur and Amritsar. Some members of Dalit community even burned the actor’s effigy and staged a dharna against him a few days ago.
A case filed against the actor at New Baradari Police Station under sections 295A and 295 of the IPC.
The court had rejected his anticipatory bail application on Tuesday.
