Surrey RCMP is informing the public of a single motor vehicle collision into a swimming pool where two elderly people were submerged in their vehicle.

On December 15, 2021 at 12:12 pm, Surrey RCMP responded to a single motor vehicle collision in the 16500 block of Glenwood Crescent South. It appears from the preliminary reports that vehicle lost control, went off road crashing thru a fence and into the swimming pool. The vehicle quickly submerged into the water with two elderly occupants inside.

The homeowners jumped into action by quickly calling 911. The first Frontline RCMP officer, Cst. Gonpo, arrived within a couple of minutes and immediately jumped in the pool to assist the two occupants. Cst. Gonpo managed to open the door of the vehicle and remove both occupants of the vehicle out of the swimming pool.

The elderly couple were taken to a local hospital as a precaution, but thankfully have no obvious injuries. The owners of the property also played an important role to assist police. The vehicle was later extracted from the pool.
