Washington: In a tragic incident, three Indian-origin nationals, including a woman, have died after falling into a frozen lake in Arizona. The accident took place at 3:35 pm on December 26 at Woods Canyon Lake in Coconino County of Arizona

“Those who died after falling into the lake have been identified as Narayan Muddan, 49, Gokul Mediseti, 47, and Haritha Muddana,” the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) said in a statement on Tuesday. All three were residents of Chandler, Arizona, and were originally Indians.”

Officials said they had pulled out Haritha but could not save her and she died on the spot. The bodies of all three deceased have been recovered. “Personnel posted at a substation in the area were called to the spot after two men and a woman fell into a frozen lake after snow fell into it,” according to a statement issued by CCSO officials.

More than one million people in the US and Canada are affected with severe cold. Snowstorms have wreaked havoc in more than 3,200 kilometers from Quebec to Texas, causing problems for people. At least 19 people have died in storm-related incidents so far.
