Chandigarh: Former Punjab minister Brahm Mohindra has been summoned by vigilance. On February 24, he will be questioned at the Vigilance Office in Mohali in connection with the disproportionate assets case.

An investigation by the Vigilance Bureau has revealed that Mohindra and her family members have spent more money than their known sources of income in the last six years.

The vigilance has also written to revenue officials to check the records of Mohindra’s properties, including his farmhouse in New Chandigarh. The role of an officer posted in vigilance Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA), who worked with Mohindra as officer on special duty, is also being probed.

Mohindra was second in seniority in the Captain Amarinder Singh-led Punjab cabinet. He was sworn in as a minister in 2017. He was the Minister of Health, Local Bodies, Medical Education and Parliamentary Affairs till 2022.

In 1982, he won the Patiala Urban seat for the first time and became an MLA. In 1987 and again in 1992, he became MLA from Patiala City. Brahm Mohindra lost the election from this seat in 1997.

In 2002, he contested from Samana assembly constituency, but lost the election. Won from Samana Assembly seat in 2007. Since 2012, he has left Samana and contested elections from Patiala rural and won.

In 2017, he again won from Patiala rural. In 2017, he first became the Health Minister, then the Local Body Minister.
