Canada: Air Canada has been handed a 97-thousand-500-dollar penalty by the Canadian Transportation Agency after a B-C man who uses a wheelchair was forced to drag himself off a plane in Las Vegas in the summer.
The Canadian Transportation Agency says the fine was issued due to several violations of Canada’s accessible transportation regulations.
It says the passenger, who has spastic cerebral palsy and is unable to move his legs, was forced to get off the aircraft on his own and Air Canada failed to check in with him about his needs while he was waiting in the terminal.
The agency says Air Canada has 30 days to request a review before the Transportation Appeal Tribunal of Canada.
