Brampton: Five people, including a 17-year-old youth, have been charged with several firearm-related offences by Peel Regional Police after finding the group in an alleged stolen car in Brampton.

Police said that after 6:00 pm on March 8, police officers arrived in the Cottrell Boulevard area on Highway 50 to check a suspicious vehicle. Investigators found that the car was stolen.

When the police officials reached near the vehicle, the driver tried to run away from the spot and knocked down several police cars. Five persons were arrested from the spot and a loaded gun and other ammunition were recovered from the vehicle.

Deputy Chief Mark Andrews said, “Due to the gravity of the situation and professionalism, our 21st Division officers saved the violent incident from happening and the gun was taken into their possession.” Three of those arrested were already out on bail.

The arrested men have been identified as Pablo Benton, 19, Josiah Lowe, 19, Matthew Swaby, 19, Mubarek Ibrahim, 18, of Brampton and a 17-year-old unidentified youth facing multiple charges.
